Week 1 at IIJNM

Ostensibly called "boot camp", its more than what it sounds like.
Learning HTML, camera handling, long angle and close up shots, hunting for "new"s stories, learning to be a news hound and curiosity to find out about everything under the sun makes one a good reporter. Or so we were told.
A few classes has made me realize how much we are yet to learn...and how much more needs to be learnt. This realization is also a consequence of one of the pre-requisites of a 'good' reporter--the ability to think critically.
We've been doing that to such an extent that yesterday night I was wondering at what time do the hostel staff get up in order to prepare our breakfast, lunch and dinner on time.
It may not be a story. It's a vague/abstract thought. But it could lead to one....who knows??
And as Mrs. Kanchan Kaur said: "You need to really start using your brains."
Never knew that this would be exhausting too
